English Learners need strategies to help them learn and retain language. Using their bodies to give meaning to language can help with that process. In this session, we will explore different methods for bringing movement and drama into the elementary school classroom and how to utilize these strategies as tools for helping students connect to the academic language and content they are learning. Teachers will have opportunities to experience these movement and drama strategies from a student's perspective and will then collaborate to identify opportunities in their own teaching where these strategies might be implemented. This session will be highly interactive and participants will have the opportunity to move about the classroom as the session unfolds.
