Attendees will examine several components of SIOP, Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol, used to intentionally plan lessons that provide access to content instruction for ELLs (content and language objectives, building background, comprehensible input, interactions, and practice/application). Participants will leave with an overview of how to effectively plan, deliver, and scaffold content instruction for ELLs as well as ways in which to provide access to text. In addition, they will have ideas for practically applying what they have learned in their own content instruction.
