The session will have three components: 1) Assessing a student's foundational reading skills and reading ability, 2) Providing the appropriate intervention support to build foundational reading skills needed improve fluency and comprehension, and 3) Scaffolding for reading text in content classes using strategies such as listening comprehension and visual support. Participants will leave with an understanding of the impact of gaps in foundational reading skills and strategies for both addressing those gaps and for providing scaffolded access to content text.
